Mother Road Brewing Company

Flagstaff is home to many historic breweries that have been around for decades now. One such location is the local favorite Mother Road Brewing Company which is located in downtown Flagstaff. The brewery is specifically known for its Tower Station IPA which has become one of the best-selling and most awarded IPAs in the state. Also, make sure to try out other favorites such as their Daily Driver Juicy Pale Ale or Limited Visibility Hazy IPA. They also produce seasonal beers and one-off specials so make sure to try a tasting flight whenever visiting. The food selection is great too with tasty options such as fish tacos and beef sliders from their onsite food truck. Yum!

Dark Sky Brewing

Flagstaff has been home to Dark Sky Brewing for a few years now and has instantly become a local favorite. While the brewery might be younger than the others in town it sure has become a hit with its inventive beer offerings. Dark Sky Brewing started off brewing many one-off beers that would instantly sell out now. Now guests can find many of their popular brews on tap and in larger quantities. Enjoy a beer inside their tasting room that shares space with Pizzicleta, one of Flagstaff’s best brick oven pizzeria. The outdoor beer garden offers plenty of shaded spots perfect for a beer in the summer weather. Make sure to grab some beers to go to take back to your vacation rental!

Historic Brewing Company

Another popular favorite here in Flagstaff is Historic Brewing Company which has a few taprooms found around Flagstaff. Their Barrel House located downtown offers a casual interior and all of their delicious beers on tap. Historic Brewing is especially known for its tasty dark beers such as the Piehole Porter which tastes just like a cherry pie. Guests can enjoy the pub grub to keep them full while they try something from the over 20 different draft beer selections.

The Annex Cocktail Lounge

While Flagstaff may be best known for its breweries and beer-related bars it also has plenty to offer for cocktails. Try out The Annex Cocktail Lounge for a delicious mixed drink in a classy yet casual atmosphere. The Annex features a contemporary setting that prepares speakeasy-like cocktails that are made to order. The indoor seating area is smaller than other locations found around town but the space is increased on the outdoor patio. Here guests can find fire pits and a live music setup to enjoy their drinks. They also offer a food menu with tasty tacos for entrees and light but flavorful popcorn.

Uptown Pubhouse

Come experience a casual pub that is perfect for time with friends at Uptown Pubhouse. This no-frills pub house offers exactly what you want: a non-fussy menu of beer and spirits, pool tables, and live music. The pub grub offers plenty of sandwiches and other eats but the tater tots are what wins over patrons time and time again. Come see why Uptown Pubhouse has been voted one of the top bars in Flagstaff for the past 20 years!

Hops on Birch

Pickin’ in the Pines Festival

Each year Flagstaff puts on a variety of events that have become local staples on the calendar. One such event is the annual Pickin’ in the Pines Bluegrass & Acoustic Music Festival. This delightful festival has been named the “Best Festival” in Flagstaff for the past 6 years straight. Pickin’ in the Pines is a bluegrass and acoustic music festival with a weekend full of musicians taking the stage. The music also includes genres such as old-time music, gypsy jazz, Celtic, and much more. Visitors from all over the Southwest make their way to Flagstaff for this celebrated event. While music festivals might be a pricier event to attend, Pickin’ in the Pines Festival makes it easier on the wallet by allowing children ages 14 and younger to attend absolutely free (with a paying adult). That means the whole family can join in on the fun too. The lineup of fun will be something they enjoy too with kids’ activities, educational workshops, community square dances, and many more. Don’t miss out on the Pickin’ in the Pines Festival taking place this year from September 16th through the 18th.

Jest Another Comedy Festival

When it comes to enjoying yourself on vacation there is nothing better than laughing until your sides hurt. Flagstaff is home to the Orpheum Theater which puts on a variety of stage productions each year. You will often see live music, theater productions, and even live comedy shows here at the Orpheum Theater. This year the Orpheum Theater is starting a brand new festival for those who love live comedy shows with the Jest Another Comedy Festival. This brand new event will bring in a variety of comedians to hit the stage with their hilarious shows. What makes Jest Another Comedy Festival unique is that tickets are sold individually for each performance. This means you and the family can only go to the shows you want to see and not pay for typically expensive festival prices. Jest Another Comedy Festival is scheduled to take place September 15th through the 17th here at the Orpheum Theater.

Flagstaff Oktoberfest Festival

Every time the fall season comes through you know Oktoberfest is just around the corner. Oktoberfest is a celebrated event that highlights the fall season along with German eats and brews. While Oktoberfest may have started off as a beer festival it has evolved into a family-friendly event perfect for everyone to join in on the fun. Flagstaff offers our own Oktoberfest festival every year. This annual event dishes out german beer, upbeat live music, authentic German brats, and contests for adults and kids alike. Try the brat eating contest or the stein holding contest. The beer garden will have beers of all kinds for you to choose from. In fact, the Flagstaff Oktoberfest Festival offers the largest selection of cold beer than any other Oktoberfest in Northern Arizona. The kids can enjoy the Grand Canyon Railway’s Root Beer Garden where they can enjoy complimentary root beer floats until they run out. Flagstaff Oktoberfest 2022 is scheduled to take place on October 1st from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Park. All ages are welcome and kids 12 years and younger get in for free. Don’t forget your canine companion as leashed dogs are also allowed! Many of the local breweries around Flagstaff will be putting on their own private Oktoberfest events. These celebrations are completely free for you to attend. Expect the breweries to put out Oktoberfest-style beers for easy drinking. Some Oktoberfest celebrations such as the Lumberyard Brewing Okto’Beer’Fest take over the street outdoors with vendor booths. All of the proceeds will go directly to local charities. Similar to the big Flagstaff Oktoberfest these smaller celebrations are family-friendly and let kids in on the delicious food and fun family activities.
