You have to expect that your tour of tastefulness in Sedona is going to involve sampling quite a few Mexican food restaurants, and you would be right! We were raised on tacos and quesadillas in a world where most remember grilled cheese sandwiches as their childhood comfort foods, and we are not ashamed to say we consider this cuisine our favorite! Café Jose Sedona, an inexpensive and unpretentious restaurant, is open every day of the week from 7:00 AM until 7:00 or 7:30 PM and is often the spot where you will find locals enjoying a hearty meal.
Located at 2370 AZ-89A #1
Café Jose doesn’t offer a patio, but once you walk in and encounter the sunset mural painted along the entire back wall, you will soon decide that an outdoor patio isn’t necessary! The talent of the artist is evident, adding a breathtaking beauty to a restaurant whose décor is a simple one. Featuring leather-like banquettes and sturdy wood tables, the food is the star of the show at this local hot spot, and visitors wouldn’t have it any other way!
A Menu for Champions
Not everyone can handle the heat of an authentic Mexican dish, and Café Jose Restaurant goes the extra step to ensure that everyone is happy, adding an equal number of all-American dishes to its menu of Mexican wonders. Breakfast eaters can dine heartily on pancakes, oatmeal, or steak and eggs, while those with more adventurous palates may enjoy huevos rancheros or a flavor-filled breakfast burrito. At lunch, fish tacos and meatloaf sandwiches are equally popular, and their Sedona burger topped with cheese, bacon, and avocado appeals to all appetites. Venture outside your comfort zone with a Torta Mexicana made with chili rellenos, ham, queso fresco, avocado, onions, tomatoes, and chipotle mayo, or play it safe with a Reuben sandwich. When the outdoors begins to match the mural on the wall, the dinner menu is large and in charge, offering Mom’s Homemade Meatloaf, Carne Asada Platters, and a Chicken Picatta dish that will make your mouth water! If you have room for dessert, we suggest sopapillas or flan, but we have a feeling there will be no more room in your stomach for something sweet, and you will be carrying home more than one little box filled with leftovers!
Sopapillas for Breakfast?
These fluffy pockets of dough are a favorite of all who taste them, so if there’s no room for dessert, bring them home and enjoy them for a morning meal in your Stay Porter Sedona sanctuary. Reserve yours today!
