Desert Botanical Garden

Many people have a misconception that the desert is all dry, tumbleweeds, brown, and hot. Well, you are partially right — but the desert is also home to some of the most beautiful botanical species that you have ever seen!

The Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix is home to thousands of species of plants, making it one of the most widely visited tourist attractions in the entire city (and state!). Visitors can marvel at thousands of species of cactus, flowers, plants, and trees from all over the world spread across over 50+ acres in the bustling city.

Curious just how much you can see during your trip here? The Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix features over 50,000 plant displays, 92,000 herbarium exhibits, 4,000+ Living Collection species, and over 460,000 annual attendees. All of this hard work is made possible with over 27,000 volunteer hours per year with 229 year-round staff.

Adults can visit this incredible garden space for between $15 and $25 per visit, with children paying just $15 for a single visit. If you are heading there as a family, children under 3 years old can enter for free, making this an affordable and fun afternoon outing!

Plus, check out the special events and exhibits posted on their website. You can view upcoming events to see ones that you might like, like the Sonoran Sippin Event in the Summer of 2022.

What makes this place so special? Well, if you are a plant lover, you will marvel at the exhibits, colors, rare species, and incredible flowers. This garden is 1 of only 24 botanical gardens in the entire country recognized and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums — showing its prowess and proficiency in the gardening world.

Located off of North Galvin Parkway, this incredible garden, and natural area is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. We recommend getting here early to avoid crowds and get out of the hot summer sun!
