Thanksgiving Guide to Flagstaff

HomeThanksgiving Guide to Flagstaff

If you have a few days off for a holiday during the Thanksgiving season, head to Flagstaff, Arizona. This is arguably the best place in the entire country to head to during the fall season, as you can see the changing of the leaves, go hiking during the cool days, and start to see the first snowfall on the mountains. Instead of being in Flagstaff during the height of the summer, when the crowds are taking over the beaches and the hiking trails, or in the winter, when the ski slopes are too crowded, the fall season is the ideal time to come here and explore.

Flagstaff is a fun and vibrant spot to come for Thanksgiving break. You can hang out with family and spend some quality time with your loved ones as you sit in a luxurious rental cabin, relax in a spacious home, or watch some TV together in your private condominium. We can’t think of anything better for a family holiday than to kick back, relax, and de-stress in a warm and comfortable home! Let’s check out the top thing to do in the Flagstaff area for your upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.  Here is our Thanksgiving guide to Flagstaff.

Hiking in Flagstaff

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of hiking trails in the Flagstaff area that are perfect for getting in a good workout, bonding with your family, and getting amazing views of the surrounding area. You can choose your pick of easy trails, moderate paths, or steep and difficult mountains that are hard to conquer.

We love the Fatman’s Loop Trail, that is a great hiking trail with far-reaching views over the surrounding area. Or you can head to the Sandy Seep Trail and choose your own path that takes you through the pine forests or takes you high above the ground. We also love the Campbell Mesa Loop Trails for beginners who want to take a nice nature walk through the pine forests and look for wildlife.

For those who want something more strenuous, you can’t ignore Humphreys Peak! Located in the Arizona Snowbowl, make sure you head here before the first snow falls so you can avoid skiers and snowboarders. We recommend coming here early in the morning to get a main view of the town down below, other high peaks in the area, and getting in a strenuous workout — even before breakfast!

Lowell Observatory

In the mood to go to something indoor? We don’t blame you! Sometimes it can be cold in Flagstaff, even during the month of November. Head to Lowell Observatory to learn more about the history of the area, take a tour of the facility, and even stay during the nighttime to test your luck at stargazing!

Walnut Canyon National Monument

If you can’t get enough of the outdoor beauty and the pristine weather, then head to Walnut Canyon National Monument to check out the incredible cliff dwellings, sprawling forests, and geological formations.

Accommodation in Flagstaff, AZ

If you are debating coming to Flagstaff for your upcoming fall and Thanksgiving holiday, we can guarantee you will have the time of your life. Instead of staying in a crowded city where it is cold, dreary, and bleak — or staying in an overcrowded beach town — we recommend heading to an outdoor-centric area where you can go hiking, check out the cultural attractions, and get some great food in the process!

Flagstaff combines the perks of staying in a town with the solitude and peacefulness of being able to see all that incredible nature has to offer. You can go hiking, go skiing and snowboarding after the first snowfall, meet friendly locals, learn about the history of the area, and eat at some of the local restaurants that use fresh and natural ingredients.

Plus, once you’re done exploring for the day, retire to your massive mansion, luxury apartment, cute cabin, or spacious condominium that is perfect for parties of all sizes. Stay Porter offers houses and rental properties of various sizes that can work for friends, couple weekends, corporate retreats, and family get-togethers.
