This delightful festival has been named the “Best Festival” in Flagstaff for the past 6 years straight. Pickin’ in the Pines is a bluegrass and acoustic music festival with a weekend full of musicians taking the stage. The music also includes genres such as old-time music, gypsy jazz, Celtic, and much more. Visitors from all over the Southwest make their way to Flagstaff for this celebrated event. While music festivals might be a pricier event to attend, Pickin’ in the Pines Festival makes it easier on the wallet by allowing children ages 14 and younger to attend absolutely free (with a paying adult). That means the whole family can join in on the fun too. The lineup of fun will be something they enjoy too with kids’ activities, educational workshops, community square dances, and many more. Don’t miss out on the Pickin’ in the Pines Festival taking place this year from September 16th through the 18th.
Jest Another Comedy Festival
When it comes to enjoying yourself on vacation there is nothing better than laughing until your sides hurt. Flagstaff is home to the Orpheum Theater which puts on a variety of stage productions each year. You will often see live music, theater productions, and even live comedy shows here at the Orpheum Theater. This year the Orpheum Theater is starting a brand new festival for those who love live comedy shows with the Jest Another Comedy Festival. This brand new event will bring in a variety of comedians to hit the stage with their hilarious shows. What makes Jest Another Comedy Festival unique is that tickets are sold individually for each performance. This means you and the family can only go to the shows you want to see and not pay for typically expensive festival prices. Jest Another Comedy Festival is scheduled to take place September 15th through the 17th here at the Orpheum Theater.
Flagstaff Oktoberfest Festival
Every time the fall season comes through you know Oktoberfest is just around the corner. Oktoberfest is a celebrated event that highlights the fall season along with German eats and brews. While Oktoberfest may have started off as a beer festival it has evolved into a family-friendly event perfect for everyone to join in on the fun. Flagstaff offers our own Oktoberfest festival every year. This annual event dishes out german beer, upbeat live music, authentic German brats, and contests for adults and kids alike. Try the brat eating contest or the stein holding contest. The beer garden will have beers of all kinds for you to choose from. In fact, the Flagstaff Oktoberfest Festival offers the largest selection of cold beer than any other Oktoberfest in Northern Arizona. The kids can enjoy the Grand Canyon Railway’s Root Beer Garden where they can enjoy complimentary root beer floats until they run out. Flagstaff Oktoberfest 2022 is scheduled to take place on October 1st from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Park. All ages are welcome and kids 12 years and younger get in for free. Don’t forget your canine companion as leashed dogs are also allowed! Many of the local breweries around Flagstaff will be putting on their own private Oktoberfest events. These celebrations are completely free for you to attend. Expect the breweries to put out Oktoberfest-style beers for easy drinking. Some Oktoberfest celebrations such as the Lumberyard Brewing Okto’Beer’Fest take over the street outdoors with vendor booths. All of the proceeds will go directly to local charities. Similar to the big Flagstaff Oktoberfest these smaller celebrations are family-friendly and let kids in on the delicious food and fun family activities.
